Born in Bodø, Per Einar Jansen became interested in the Norwegian Air Force at an early stage, through his father, who was a pilot and serving officer. While growing up, he lived in a number of places, and interested in aircraft as he was, he spent much of his time visiting airfields.
He has served in the Army, including many missions abroad under the auspices of the United Nations. Per Einar has also been a reserve officer in the Home Guard, but due to age and injuries sustained during his United Nations service, is no longer part of an administrative unit. He lives in Bergen and has a daughter 15 years old, who lives in the municipality of Os, in Hordaland.
Throughout a number of years he has collected a considerable amount of documentation on the Air Force's aircraft and history. Much of this has been collected on his own initative and in the past two years with help and support from the Air Force Academy, with Ståle Schirmer-Mikalsen providing encouragement and advice.
This work will continue in the future. If anyone would like to contribute to this site, through photos/pictures, logbooks, stories or other relevant material, please contact Per Einar via e-mail, so that the information may be made available to others.
